HORNET TRIUMPHS AT ANNECY ANIMATION FESTIVAL

The annual Annecy Animation Festival is always an exciting and engrossing time for Hornet and last week's 2015 celebration did not disappoint. The team spent six enlightening days meeting with talented artists, throwing ideas around with other industry professionals and becoming acquainted with new clients.

Of all the positive encounters and inspiring activities, the true crescendo of the week occurred Saturday night when Hornet Director Yves Geleyn's PSA "Lucy and the boy" took the Jury Award in the Commissioned Film category. The spot — created with Leo Burnett London as part of a cross platform campaign for the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) — helped Britain's leading children's charity fighting to end child abuse spread the message of how social media can influence and affect children, and unfortunately, how it can sometimes harm them.

Making Annecy’s official selection was the campaign's complimentary project "I saw your willy," directed by Hornet's Dan & Jason. The spot uses the same simple but graphic design and saturated tones to tell of a young boy whose private image quickly goes viral. Both projects stand as a true testament to the collaborative efforts from all three directors and the strong creative team at Leo Burnett London.

Together, the films picked up over 14 million Twitter impressions within the first two weeks of their release this past January. More importantly, the #ShareAware campaign has helped initiate millions of conversations regarding the privacy issue between parents and their kids and within the community.

The Jury Award win at Annecy has since contributed to the wide spread clout of Hornet's newest outpost in London, whose reach continues to excel and grow in the UK market.

But as all good things do, Annecy 2015 came and went, with the Hornet team just as eager as ever for the magic of next year's soiree. The travels aren't over yet, however — next stop on the itinerary for Hornet: Cannes Lions.

If you're going to be there, give us a shout! We'd love to meet up.
